Virgin boss crams Mini with SA girls

Johannesburg - Virgin Mobile South Africa has achieved a Guinness World Record title by cramming 25 people into a Mini Cooper. The event was all a publicity stunt for the opening event of Virgin Mobile’s new concept store in Braamfontein.

Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson and several officials watched as 25 people squeezed into the classic Mini. The previous record for "most people crammed in a Mini Cooper (Classic Model)" is 23 and was achieved by Danielle Maynard and the David Lloyd Divas (England) in November 2012.

For their efforts, the 25 participants, who were required by the rules to be adults taller than 1.5 metres, each received a Samsung Galaxy S III Mini.

The funky Virgin Mobile Mini Cooper will be used as an in-store photo booth when visiting the store and has been designed test the latest phones and accessories.

Virgin Mobile South Africa CEO Anton Landman said: “Both this concept store and the Guinness World Records attempt is what Virgin Mobile is all about –innovation, fun, quality, value for money and a sense of competitive challenge.

“We’re a lifestyle brand and really wanted to create a space for the community to connect and enjoy themselves.”

Virgin Mobile Braamfontein is situated at 19 Melle Street, Braamfontein. Visit the website for more information.
