Old-school petrolheads are in for a treat come June 29 when the Sylviavale Heritage Museum in Vanderbiljpark - 60km north of Johannesburg - will auction vintage, classic and collectable vehicles, as well as automotive memorabilia.
Museum curator Siggi Duvel said: "We have a number of significant projects that we know the museum does not have the ability to restore.
"In keeping with our desire to have exciting vintage vehicles on the road rather than sitting in storage we want to give the public the ability to take on these projects and raise some funds to grow the museum at the same time."
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
According to Duvel, there are many vehicles on offer - from convertibles to trucks, barn finds to show cars - each with a fantastic story to tell.
Some of the notable passenger vehicles in running condition are a 1923 Ford Model T Tourer, a 1930 Chevrolet Sports Roadster, a 1948 International KB12 Woody, a 1957 Hillman Minx convertible, a 1958 Wolsley 1500, a 1989 Ford BroncoEddie Bauer edition and a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC.
Sylviavale also collects trucks and tractors and goods; under this section are a 1937 International Harvester van, a 1949 GMC Truck, a 1957 Commer, 1958 International Dreyer drill rig and a 1951 Farmall Cub Model B.
RESTORED OX-WAGON
For those are in the restoration business the auction might just have some rare parts. Vehicles suitable for restoration or parts include a 1934 Ford Phaeton, 1962 Ford Galaxie convertible and a 1926 Dodge Brothers Tourer.
For collectors, how about a restored ox-wagon, workshop machinery, antique tools and signage.
WH Auctioneers' Shannon Winterstein said: "It's unusual to see such an exciting and eclectic mix of vehicles and in such a variety of conditions."
