The 2013 Mercedes Benz S-Class has gone on sale in Europe and will arrive in South Africa in November. Unveiled globally in a spectacular show in Hamburg, Germany in March, the S-Class is one of the most luxurious sedans.
The range includes a 192kW 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel, which will be the most popular model, a 5.0-litre biturbo V8 petrol, a 3.5-litre V6 petrol/electric hybrid and a four-cylinder diesel plug-in hybrid.
The 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producies 340kW/700Nm and will be mated to a seven-speed transmission.
'THE BEST OR NOTHING'
The automaker says its new model is the world's first vehicle with "100% LED lighting inside and out."

Mercedes-Benz's boss Dieter Zesche said: "When I was 11 years old, i thought how can I drive an S-Class without being a head of state.
"Today, I not only drive an S-Class but I'm also part of the team that builds this amazing car. It's probably one of the most demanding jobs in the whole of the automobile industry."
