Video: Ducati robbery foiled

Life at a motorcycle or car dealership can be tough as you constantly deal with a variety of people - not to mention determined crooks. Staff at a Ducati dealership in the UK should receive an extra pay cheque for their efforts in preventing a robbery. The action was caught on film.

In September 2012, six would-be criminals attempted to steal bikes from a Ducati dealership in Croydon, UK. A video uploaded to YouTube shows CCTV footage of the event.

The first part of the video shows the crooks' plan - two enter the store and start selecting "their" machines while, through the window, their accomplices can be seen arriving outside the dealership, ostensibly to provide reinforcement.

WIELDING HAMMERS AND BARS

The pair inside the dealership get as far as the door before a Ducati staff member intervenes and wrestles the bikes from them. A third accomplice tries to help his friends but all three are forced outside.

You'll notice in the video how one of the crooks continues to pull the bike out of the shop despite the staff member holding on.

Meanwhile, seeing their partners in crime needing assistance, the rest of the group attempts to intervene but are met with force by more staff members and some helpful members of the public. A scuffle breaks out with one staff member wrestling with a criminal and another shoving one of the accomplices, perched on a "getaway" scooter, to the ground - twice.

The criminals even retrieve weapons in the form of tyre irons, hammers and metal bars but are scared off by the dealership staff and passersby.

The criminals were “sensible” enough to hide their faces with bike helmets but some can be seen wearing high-visibility vests. Who wears that to a robbery?
