Truck slams into 8 cars in Durban

DURBAN, kwaZulu-Natal - A truck collided with eight cars on the N3 Durban-bound after the Pavilion on Wednesday (Dec 10 2014).

Arrive Alive reports that Rescue Care paramedics arrived to find chaos as cars were spread on the busy highway over a distance of about 200m - recalling the recent horror crash  in Alberton, Gauteng two months earlier.

Paramedics called for more resources to assist including search and rescue and Durban Fire Department.

SIX INJURED

Once the scene had been assessed it was determined that eight cars and a truck had been involved. The truck/trailer unit had overturned, spilling its contents of scaffolding on the roadway.

Six people were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to various Durban hospitals. At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision but police were on the scene and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected on the Durban-bound carriageway as emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
