Cape Town - South African supercar owners must be revving their V10s in anticipation of the Rogue Rally, just announced for June 2013, and set to cover 2 500km of SA’s best roads.
The inaugural Rogue Rally will be a road trip that is being planned in SA for supercar owners from June 16-22, 2013. In true rally style, the drivers will be challenged with special stages, including track events, high-speed runs on the proposed land speed record track at Hakskeenpan and a closed mountain stage.
USING 'FULL POTENTIAL'
Mark Castel is the CEO of BAM, organisers of the Rogue Rally, and he said: “We are giving owners of supercars the chance to use the cars to their full potential.
“What's the use of paying R4m for a car and never finding out what it feels like to travel at 300km/h?”
Entry is limited to 50 cars with one passenger per car and the organisers said 12 tickets were sold even before the official announcement.
“To date we have confirmed a number of cars, among them a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari Scaglietti 612, two McLaren MP4-12Cs, a special-edition Nissan GT-R, an Aston Martin Vanquish, a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Lamborghini Aventador, Ford Shelby GT500 and a Porsche 911 Turbo,” Castel said.
Pablo Clark driver training with Jaki Scheckter will help the participants prepare for the event, which will also have mechanical support and full medical service teams.
Payment of R47 500 secures your Rogue Rally seat and a supercar is mandatory.
“We've kept prices very low to establish the event… (although) several high-end sponsors are on board. Navigation specialists TomTom, (luxury car) importers Daytona Group and the Legacy Hotels group have already confirmed their participation."
The event will be filmed for a six-part TV series to be broadcast in September 2013.
