Still beautiful after 80 years

LONDON, England - Coupes come in all shapes and sizes but for timeless elegance that turns heads, this 1933 Lancia Astura is be a top contender.

One will be up for auction at the Silverstone, England, race circuit on May 17 2013 for a hoped-for price equivalent to R1.3-million to R1.5-million.

COMMANDS ADMIRATION

The convertible coupe (it was converted into its current appearance by the Italian car designer Pininfarina) shows that what looked good eight decades ago still commands admiration today.

Part of its 30-year restoration included the engine being rebuilt with rebored cylinders, new crankshaft bearings and a complete overhaul of the valve mechanism.

Two other collectable models with a combined age of 16 years are will also be offered - a 1927 Studebaker Commander Big Six known for its ruggedness and imposing looks (R168 000 to R210 000) and a 1935 Austin Seven Ruby which is considered one of the best-selling cars of its era.
