SPIED: Next C-Class

Spy photographers captured images of the next generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The model shows hardly any disguise at the front and you can spot details such as the doors, boot lid and interior.

Mercedes-Benz has gone to great lengths to hide to the styling from prying eyes but our spy images make it possible to get a glimpse of what the final product will be.

At the front the grille and headlights appear to inspired by the new A-Class and CLA. It’s too early to confidently predict its engine line-up.

HYBRID OPTIONS

The automaker is developing three-cylinder engines but it’s more likely the C-Class will receive four-cylinder units that would reduce the engine to operating on just two cylinders when less power is needed. Expect a range of petrol and diesel engines including a four-cylinder engine developed and built by Nissan. The C-Class is built on a new modular architecture called MRA.

The new C-Class will be available in hybrid guise. If the products already offered by the automaker are any indication, we should see the petrol and diesel units coupled with an electric motor that develops around 20kW. A plug-in hybrid model is also planned to help take on the new Lexus IS 300h.

The new Mercedes-Benz C Class is set to be launched in Europe later in 2013 or early 2014.
