SPOTTED: Peugeot's new SUV, to be designated the 2008, is spotted undergoing testing.

Peugeot and Citroen are about to enter to the SUV market with a model based on Mitsubishi's ASX.

Our spies spotted the camouflaged models undergoing testing. The Peugeot version will likely be designated 2008, Citroen is still tight-lipped regarding the name of its SUV.

The group plans to offer a mid-size SUV to compete against the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke.


The PSA group is expecting the compact SUV market to grow by 60% over the next few years and are calculating a sales figure of 50 000 units.

SUV CONCEPT: Citroen's new SUV will take on Nissan's Juke.

Power is expected to be derived from a 1.6-litre HDI engine and will be offered in either two or all-wheel drive. An 89kW 1.6 VTI petrol engine will also be available.

The new SUV 'swill be launched in September 2012.
