The Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV, unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, will form the basis of its 4x4 variant - the ML Coupe.

Designed to move the automaker's SUV range in a sportier, more road-orientated direction, the five-door four-seat SUV is meant to take on BMW's X6.

Out spy lensfolk captured the new model undergoing testing. Despite its camouflage it's possible to make out changes from the concept model.

It has new LED's, angled bonnet and wide air intakes. You can also make out its large wheels, wheel arches and arched roof line.

The taillights seem be taller in comparison to the concept.

Engines are likely to be shared with the M-Class, including a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 3.0-litre turbodiesel, a 4.6-litre twin-turbo V8, and a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 for the AMG variant.

A hybrid version of the ML Coupe could be in the works, potentially using the 3.5-litre V6 and hybrid setup borrowed from the E400 Hybrid sedan.

It set to built at Mercedes’ Tuscaloosa, Alabama factory in the USA in 2015, with a launch date expected late in 2015 or early 2016.
