WEST POINT, Georgia - Kia's updated Sorento launched in SA in 2013 has earned the highest possible overall safety rating (five stars) from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Kia US said: “The new Sorento was recognised for its outstanding performance in front and side-impact crash tests and scored highly in rollover testing.”
STRONG CONTENDER
The US Sorento is built on an all-new platform, the automaker reports, and uses Kia's advanced safety equipment and technologies to provide a high level of occupant protection as measured by the NHTSA.
Orth Hedrick, executive director for product planning at KMA, added: "Though already a compelling entry in the compact CUV category, earning five stars from NHTSA makes the Sorento an even stronger contender within its segment while underscoring Kia's overall commitment to delivering safety and exceptional value to customers."
The 2014 Sorento has also been named a Top Safety Pick by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It’s assembled at a Kia's plant in West Point, Georgia.
