Slaughter goes on: 8 die as taxi rolls

SETTLERS, Mpumalanga - Eight people were killed and seven injured when the taxi in which they were travelling crashed and overturned near Settlers on Tuesday (Feb 10).

An Mpumalanga department of community safety spokesman said seven critically injured people were rushed to Mmametlhake Hospital after the crash at about 3pm on the D2740 between Seabe and Nokaneng.

He added: "It is believed that the minibus taxi driver lost control of his vehicle, which overturned and killed eight people instantly, one of them the driver."

'DRIVE WITH CAUTION'

Police are investigating the crash.

Mabuza said: "The MEC (Vusi Shongwe) regrets any loss of lives due to road crashes and he can only appeal to road users to drive with great caution."

And still, Wheels24 says, the government does nothing to help take death off the roads but issue platitudes.
