The new E90 M3 is due to go on sale in 2006 and BMW plans coupe, cabriolet and 4-door sedan models.
Not since the E36 3 Series range was there a four-door M3, but our photos confirm BMW's plans to bring this derivative back.
At the front the M3 will get an aggressive yet subtle bumper while the rear will sport quad exhausts similar to that of the new M5.
Under the bonnet will be a new lightweight V8 producing about 295 kW using the latest dual-VANOS variable valve timing system.
Thanks to the implementing of state of the art engine building technology and lightweight materials, the new engine could weigh the same as the outgoing 3.2 liter in-line 6-cylinder from the current E46 M3.
Of course BMW's SMG transmission will come as standard.
Rumours have it that a CSL version could have a power output of a whopping 310 kW.
It is expected that BMW will unveil the M3 in four-door guise at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The two-door models will probably be launched at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show.
