The spy shots confirm Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer's comments about the new model being "more upscale than its predecessor". The model resembles the Hi-Cross concept debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Rumour has it that the engine range will include a 1.6 diesel as well as a supercharged 1.2 petrol producing 84kW/190Nm. There’s also a plug-in hybrid planned for 2015.

The next Nissan Qashqai will launched early in 2014.
