GERMANY, Berlin - Earlier in 2014, Wheels24 reported on Volkswagen’s Golf R arriving in South Africa. In May 2014, spy photographers captured a new variant in the automaker’s R-badged range – the Golf R Estate.
According to Automedia, Volkswagen is currently testing its hot estate but hasn’t confirmed whether it's headed for mass-production.

If the automaker decides to do so, the load-lugging Golf R variant will have the same performance exterior modifications as the hatch – sporty bumpers (front and rear), huge wheels and a low ride height.
It will be powered by the hatch’s turbocharged 223kW 2.0-litre TSI.
The VW Golf R Estate could be launched later in 2014 or early 2015.
