Gauteng saw the most new passenger cars picked up by its residents in April 2018.
A total of 8814 passengers rolled of showroom floors; more than 5000 units more than what the second-placed Kwazulu-Natal could muster.
KZN managed to sell 3423 new passenger cars in April, just ahead of the Western Cape on 2857 units.
Strong sales
Mpumalanga accumulated a sales figure of 1095 units to slot into fourth place, beating the Eastern Cape on 1022 units.
Limpopo secured the signatures of 705 new owners, followed by the 663 of North West.
Free State came in second last with 571 units, and the Northern Cape rounds out the nine provinces with 238 units.
Q1 sales
Over the course of the first quarter, Gauteng registered 43 681 new passengers sold compared to KZN’s 16 291. The Western Cape amassed 13 780 units in third place, followed by Mpumalanga’s 4752.
The Eastern Cape sold 4442 units in fifth place, ahead of Limpopo (3418 units), and North West (3044 units).
The Free State is in eighth place with 2662 units, ahead of the Northern Cape (1102 units).
