From Toyota Hilux leading the way as South Africa's undisputed bakkie king, to the Polo Vivo proving popular each month, we look at some of the best-selling vehicles in SA so far this year.

For the first time in 2019, new vehicle sales in April showed positive growth compared to the corresponding month in 2018.

The Hilux leads as SA's bakkie king with a sales figure of 12 961 units sold, according to Naamsa, and is followed by the Ford Ranger on 8783 units. The Nissan NP200, despite dropping a few sales in April, retains its overall third spot with 6341 units sold.

From January to April, the Polo Vivo racked up a sales figure of 10 001 units - almost a fourth of the 39 674 units sold by all the vehicles in our top ten category.

The BMW X5 leads the luxury SUV charge with 433 units, followed very closely by the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 on 429 units. The Toyota Prado is in third place on 416 units.
