Motorists in Gauteng love their cars and it shows, with thousands of cars sold so far this year, according to data from Lightstone Auto.

A total of 10 838 units were sold during the month of September, a stark contrast to that of the Northern Cape with 220.

We look at out how many cars were sold in each province so far this year.

The usual suspects

Kwa-Zulu Natal is beating the Western Cape in terms of passenger car sales with both provinces recording 35 072 and 29 750 units respectively.

Limpopo province, North West, Free State and Northern Cape all dip below three figures for the month of September.

The popularity of brands like Volkswagen, Toyota and Hyundai are one of the reasons behind the influx of sales in Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape.
