The Toyota Hilux remains not only South Africa’s best-selling bakkie but the top-selling vehicle overall during September 2018.
The popular Hilux found 3943 new owners last month, comprehensively outselling its closest rival, the Ford Ranger, by nearly a thousand units.

The Ranger, though best-of-the-rest, managed to secure more than 3000 sales for total of 3016 units. The only other vehicle in South Africa to exceed the 3000-mark was the Volkswagen Polo with 3866 units.
Small dynamite
The Nissan NP200 continued its trend as the third best-selling bakkie in SA with a stellar effort of 1888 units.
This is some way clear of now-independent Isuzu who sold off 1193 KBs last month. The NP200’s bigger siblings, the NP300/Hardbody took a dip in sales compared to August 2018, but still performed well with 812 units.
Volkswagen’s Amarok sold 291 units in sixth place, followed by the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up on 216 units. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up slots into the eighth place on 178 units, while the Nissan Navara (166 units) and GWM Steed (163 units) completes the top ten.
