Cape Town - The Toyota Hilux continues to dominate local bakkie sales.
In August 2017, the Hilux found 3392 new owners in South Africa; 826 more units than the second-placed Ford Ranger (2566 units).
Behind the two market leaders, the Nissan NP200 completes the top top three most popular bakkie with 1565 units. The Isuzu KB (1372) is fourth, followed by the Nissan Hardbody/NP300 with 1232 units.
The aforementioned five bakkies were the only bakkies surpassing the 1000 unit mark.

In sixth place, the Chevrolet Ute found 677 new owners, followed by the Volkswagen Amarok on 358 units. The Toyota Land Cruiser pick-up, SA’s most expensive bakkie, reached 210 to grab eighth place ahead of the Nissan Navara (175). The Mahindra Scorpio completes the top ten with 89 units.
