Cape Town - Toyota may have trailed the Ford in bakkie sales but in July the Hilux has made triumphant return to the top, out-selling the Ranger by 800 units, reports Naamsa.
The Hilux registered 3100 units finding local homes in July, followed by the Ranger on 2300. The Ranger has also dropped to South Africa’s third best-selling vehicle for the month, behind the Hilux and Volkswagen Polo Vivo.
The top 10
Behind the two market leaders, the Nissan Hardbody/NP300 continues its impressive run with 1396 units sold to grab third place. In its shadow lies its smaller sibling, the NP200, a mere 20 units behind with 1376 units.

The Isuzu KB remains an SA favourite with 1209 units though it fared better than its half-tonne cousin, the Chevrolet Ute, by quite a margin; The Ute only found 780 new owners.
Volkswagen’s Amarok registered 355 to grab seventh place, followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser pick-up (228 units), Nissan Navara (122 units) and Mahindra Bolero (91 units).
