The Toyota Hilux has been the dominant force in the SA bakkie market for the longest time and it was no different at the end of December 2018.
The Hilux ended the month as the best-selling bakkie overall, beating its nearest rival by almost a thousand units!

The Hilux recorded a sales figure of 2907 units, while its nearest rival in, the Ford Ranger, registered a figure of 1931 units.
NP200 hits hard
The Nissan NP200, the only remaining half-tonne bakkie on sale in SA today, slots into the third place with 1572 units, ahead of the Isuzu D-Max/KB on 1013 units. Nissan’s NP300/Hardbody managed to reach fifth place with 539 units.
The Volkswagen Amarok continues to bring in solid sales figures and secured sixth place with 323 units. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up did a sales figure of t201 units in seventh place, followed by the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up on 156 units.
Nissan’s Navara goes ninth on 137 units, and the GWM Steed completes our top ten with 96 units sold.
