The Volkswagen Polo Vivo ended 2019 as the best-selling passenger car in South Africa.
In January, the Vivo opened its account by selling fewer units than the bigger Polo, but for every month since it outsold all its rivals. In total, the Vivo had an annual sales figure of 29 618 units.
The second-placed Volkswagen Polo sold 22 249 units last year, despite dropping down the list on a few occasions over the year.
Kwid doing well
The Toyota Corolla/Quest came in third with 14 536 units, ahead of the Renault Kwid on 11 848 units. Toyota’s Fortuner did well on 11 644 units – an average of around 970 units per month!
Ford’s EcoSport sold 9802 units, followed by the Toyota Etios on 9445 units. Hyundai’s Grandi10 did well to secure 8520 sales, and the Figo managed 7985 units in 2019.
The Kia Picanto rounds out the year’s top ten on 6924 units.
The top ten passenger cars in our list had an accumulative sales figure of 132 571 units in 2019.
