The final sales results for 2019 are in! While 2019 was not South Africa’s strongest economic year, new vehicle sales still raked in a decent number.
Leading the overall sales charts for the year is the Toyota Hilux. Toyota’s top-selling vehicle found favour among 40 934 new owners last year. This is insanely good, considering that the Hilux’s closest rival, the Ford Ranger, could ‘only’ muster 25 042 units.
Very strong numbers
In third place is the Nissan NP200 on a strong 17 937 units, despite sales dropping in the closing stages of the year. Next is the Isuzu D-Max/KB. Despite being as old as time, the bakkie showed no signs of taking a back seat in 2019. It sold 16 166 units last year.
The Nissan NP300 just missed out on the 10k-mark. It closed the year on 9053 units sold.
