Cape Town - The Volkswagen Polo Vivo is the king of passenger cars in South Africa after racking up 7027 units in sales between January and March 2018.

In second place is the Volkswagen Polo on 6610 units. Volkswagen launched new generations of both these vehicles in February.

Toyota takes the cake

Though VW occupies the top two slots, it is Toyota that has the most number of cars in the top ten.

First is the Corolla/Auris/Quest in third place with an accumulative sales figure of 4687 units, followed by the Fortuner on 3598 units. In fifth place is the Toyota Etios on 3203 units.

In sixth place is the Hyundai Grandi10, pumping its little chest with 3174 units behind its name.

Ford has two vehicles in the list. First is the EcoSport in seventh place with 2287 units, and then the Figo down in tenth (1764 units).

The Kia Picanto (2268 units) and Renault Kwid (2102 units) occupy the eighth and ninth places, respectively.
