The Toyota Hilux continued where it left 2019: at the top of the food chain. In January 2020, the bakkie registered a sales figure of 2681 units. It might not have been enough to be the overall best-selling vehicle in SA (that honour belongs to the VW Polo Vivo), but it is still the top-selling bakkie.
Following the Hilux is the Ford Ranger with a sales figure of 1735 units. In third place is the Nissan NP200. After losing plenty of ground in December 2019, the half-tonner came back strong at the start of the new year.
The Isuzu D-Max/KB sold 673 units, followed by the Nissan NP300/Hardbody on 661 units. Mahindra’s new Pik Up did very well in sixth place to register 329 units, followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up on 230 units.
Volkswagen’s Amarok sold 165 units, followed by the GWM Steed on 172 units.
The Nissan Navara rounds out the top ten with 146 units sold.
