Cape Town - The Toyota Hilux established itself as the firm favourite amongst South African car buyers when it became both the best-selling bakkie and best-selling vehicle in SA over the course of 2018’s first quarter.
The Hilux sold a mammoth 9889 units in the first three months of the year, some 2000+ units clear of the second-placed Ford Ranger.
The Ranger, on the other hand, managed a more than decent 7275 units.
Strong Q1
Behind the two leaders the Nissan NP200 stands firm in third place with 4837 units sold, some way clear of the Isuzu KB (3689 units) in fourth place.
The Nissan NP300/Hardbody is fifth on 2279 units.
From sixth place and down the numbers take a big tumble, starting with the Toyota Land Cruiser pick-up on 747 units. The Nissan Navara secured seventh place, but only because it sold in access of 400 units in March 2018. The Navara’s tally for Q1 is 676 units.
The Mahindra Scorpio pik-up racked up 628 sales in eighth place, followed by the Volkswagen Amarok in ninth (541 units).
GWM’s Steed is in tenth place with 525 units sold.
