SA bakkie sales | The Toyota Hilux rules the bakkie segment, again

accreditation

While new vehicle sales took a bit of a slump in November 2019, the Toyota Hilux retained its position as both South Africa’s best-selling vehicle and best-selling bakkie.

Over the course of the month, Toyota registered 2588 Hilux sales. Despite it being one of the lowest sales figures of the year, the Hilux still bested its rivals.

In second place is the Ford Ranger on 1894 units sold, followed by the Isuzu D-Max on 1307 units. The Nissan NP200, surprisingly, had one of its weakest months of the year after ‘only’ securing 694 signatures.

The Nissan NP300/Hardbody slots into fifth place with 445 units sold, and the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up did well on 238 units sold.

In seventh place is the recently-updated Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up. It registered a sales figure of 224 units, well-clear of the Volkswagen Amarok on 186 units. The Nissan Navara had a good month and sold off 161 units.

The GWM Steed completes the top ten on 151 units sold.
