SA team wins FIM Aftrica champs

KITWE, Zambia -The South African team has won the 2014 Africa Motocross of African Nations championship held over the weekendof August 30/31 in Kitwe, Zambia.

The Zimbabwean team was second place. Apart from Zimbabwe and South Africa, four other African countries took part - Kenya, Uganda, Botswana and the host nation Zambia.

The championship is one of the few motorcycle events recognised as "Team" events  in which the points of the contestants are totalled to determine who the winning team.

The event moves to a different host country each year - 2014 saw Zambia host the event at its Mindola track.

More than 120 riders from six African countries, some of them them multiple champions, competed in the event.

The 2014 event was the first time South Africa had sent a full Ladies team to compete in the Ladies' class.
