LONDON, England - Sir Elton John’s 512 Testarossa was bought brand-new by the pop king and will be one of 40 cars at Coy’s Spring Classics sale on Tuesday, March 12.
While the car’s clock only has 3379.6km but Sir Elton John only drove 2916km while he owned the car. Yet even with such a low mileage, the car was serviced annually.

'Rocket Man' Elton is quite the avid driver and used all 28 of his cars, often carting around many celebritry friends before he auctioned them all (no, the cars) through Christie’s in 2001. The 512 was included in the lot and was bought for about R1.3-million at the time by its current owner.
The Rosso Corsa (red) 512 is still in pristine condition and has a beige interior, complete service history - the most recent just before the sale and a letter of ownership authenticity from Sir Elton. The car has been valued at the equivalent of about R1.35-million.
Chris Routledge, Coys managing director, said: “This must be the least-travelled 512 TR on the market and has exceptional ownership provenance. With Ferrari prices continuing to rise, it offers the opportunity for a real blue-chip investment. Unique.”

Also on auction will be two Ferrari Dino models, one a 1969 206 GT (estimated R2.6-million) , one of only 152 built and once owned by Canadian film director David Cronenberg. The second is a 246 GTS (1974) in the distinctive ‘French racing blue’ colour, worth R2.4-million.
There’s also a rare 1974 E-Type Commemorative that wants some love - one of only fifty special roadsters built to mark the end of the model's production in 1974. The Jaguar has only 41762km on the clock since it rolled off the production line and is estimated at R1.8-million. It will most likely become a member of the exclusive E-type club.
