Reader: 'He will kill again'

In February 2013, we reported that the High Court in Pretoria granted bail and returned the driving licence to a man who allegedly struck down five joggers in 2011.

Sibusiso Langa was allegedly drunk when he drove his Mercedes-Benz ML500 into the runners on October 23 2011 while they were training for the Soweto Marathon. He was released on R80 000 bail and his drivers licence returned after it was seized following the incident.

Wheels24 reader Lethiwe Zondo believes that returning Langa's licence puts other road users as risk:

"I stand against killers on the road. I’ve been a marathon runner since 2008 but ran casually before that. I’m currently running for TUKS. As a runner I can sympathise with the slain runners.

I want Langa to feel how painful it is to have lost someone. His relatives should learn a lesson. All those who drink and drive should feel it. The South African legal framework should know our plight.

So now for his R80 000 bail he thought it was not enough because having no license means he cannot mow other innocent people. The return of his driver’s license is a cherry on top of the bail he never deserved according to UBUNTU. Impela ukuthi ungubani still determines everything. He wants his license so he can kill again."
