After months of delays and talks with goverment, the Gauteng e-toll system will be implemented, transport minister Ben Martins announced recently.
We've had many responses to the e-tolling announcement and reader Desiree Campbell e-mailed us to share her thoughts on the Gauteng e-toll plan:
'CRIPPLING' SA DRIVERS
"As far as I’m concern this is a rip off, day light robbery and an insult to road users. I don’t use freeways when coming to work and the only time I use it is when travelling long distance for holidays.
Why must I be registered so that they can debt my account even if I’m not utilising the gantries they’ve build?
We are paying for license disks that costs us a lot and adding the e-toll fees would cripple us more. We are paying a fuel levy. Let them use this money to cover their debt."
