TRENTON, New Jersey - Singer and actor the late Frank Sinatra's first driving licence, issued in New Jersey in 1934, has sold for the equivalent of R166 000 at an auction.
The yellowed, text-only, licence was issued, typo and all, to Francis Sintra, 841 Garden Street, Hoboken, New Jersey. It was signed by the then 19-year-old a year before the singer got his first big break in the music industry.
A PIECE OF SINATRA
His eyes, of course, are recorded as blue. His weight was 58kg.
Boston-based RR Auction did not disclose the buyer.
The deal also included a 1940 letter to New York State's Commissioner of Motor Vehicles from the lawyer of a man with whom Sinatra had been in a crash insisting Sinatra's driving privileges be revoked until he paid for the damage.
