JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - Audi's new S1, available in hatch and Sportback versions, has arrived in South Africa. Wheels24 editor LES STEPHENSON was testing Audi's latest S-badged offering at the Kyalami race track in Gauteng on Tuesday (Dec 2) and will share his full report later this week.
The S-badged A1 is powered by a a new 2.0 TFSI unit capable of 170kW/370Nm mated to a six-speed manual, driving power to all four wheels courtesy of Audi's quattro all-wheel drive.
LATEST S-BADGED AUDI
The 2.0 petrol engine rockets the S1 from from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 and 5.9 (Sportback) seconds respectively, on to a top speed of 250km/h. The S1 has a claimed fuel consumption of 7 litres/100km with emissions of 162 and 166g/km respectively.
In terms of design it benefits from xenons, rear LEDs, new front and rear bumpers, side sills and a new exhaust system. It uses larger 310mm brake discs.
