SRT-6 Roadster offers ultimate power!

Significantly, the new Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 was the first SRT-badged Chrysler Group vehicle to be introduced to markets outside North America and will be the first SRT Chrysler in South Africa when the first Roadster units are delivered to owners in June 2005.

Coupe models will follow in July on a made-to-order basis.

SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology.

"The Crossfire SRT-6 defines performance for the Chrysler brand and offers driving enthusiasts an absolute dream," says Guy Franken, Marketing Manager: Chrysler and Jeep at DaimlerChrysler South Africa (DCSA).

"Chrysler Group has taken an incredible car and applied street and racing technology. The result is a world-class, confident performer from Chrysler which exhibits benchmark performance."

A hand-built 3.2-litre supercharged V-6 engine boasting 246 kW and 420 Nm of torque powers the ultimate Chrysler Crossfire, taking the SRT-6 from 0 to 100 km/h in just over five seconds.

Featuring a helical supercharger and a water-to-air intercooler, the 18-valve V-6 engine delivers 90% of peak torque across a broad range of the power band ? from 2 300 to 6 200 r/min.

According to DaimlerChrysler SRT engineers sought to deliver a stiffer, sportier performance ride with reduced understeer versus the base Crossfire.

They began by significantly increasing the spring rates, and SRT-6 Coupe and Roadster models are tuned differently, to their own unique characteristics.

The suspension is completed with performance-tuned damping and an aggressive compound on Crossfire's Michelin Pilot Sport ultra-high performance 225/40 ZR18 (front) and 255/35 ZR19 (rear) tyres. An Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) tuned specifically for more spirited driving throughout the car's dynamic range further contributes to the Crossfire SRT-6's ultimate two-seater performance ride and handling.

The Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 features a fixed rear spoiler and an elegantly integrated front fascia "chin" spoiler also reduces lift and enhances vehicle balance, while providing greater cooling airflow.

Unique, lighter 15-spoke performance-themed SRT aluminium alloy wheels (18-in. front and 19-in. rear) add to Crossfire SRT-6's exterior performance characteristics.

Crossfire SRT-6 Coupe and Roadster performance

  • 0-100 km/h: 5.1 seconds
  • 100- 0 km/h braking: 35 m
  • 0-160-0 km/h: 16 seconds

    New entry-level models

Two new entry-level Chrysler Crossfire models broaden the appeal of this two-seater. Chrysler says the new variants ensure that its distinctive two-seater is available to a wider audience of drivers wanting to own and enjoy this expressive, fun-to-drive vehicle.

To differentiate the line-up, the highly specified Crossfire models will now be known as Coupe Limited and Roadster Limited.

Instead, the new entry-level models will be instantly recognisable with matte black door sill plates and body-colour windscreen surround, door handles and side louvers replacing the Satin Silver units found on the Crossfire Limited.

The 3.2-litre V-6 engine, standard six-speed manual transmission, chassis and running gear are all identical to the Limited models.?

Certain to make a stylish statement with visual impact, the new Chrysler Crossfire Coupe and Roadster entry-level models come with Black Clear Coat exterior finish (the only colour available) and Dark Slate Gray cloth interior. They are immediately available.
