MONTE CARLO, Monaco - A source at Formula 1's owners CVC, a private equity firm, have named CEO of the English Premier League Richard Scudamore as an ideal successor to the sport's embattled chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.
The 83-year-old Ecclestone is fighting for his future and freedom in a Munich corruption trial and many names have been linked to his role at the top of F1. Scudamore is the latest.
SCUDAMORE FOR CEO
Scudamore's job is also in doubt due to a series of alleged sexist personal emails and if he does lost that job CVC has admitted it is interested in hiring him for F1.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper in London: "TV rights deals are F1's life-blood. That is where Bernie has been brilliant. That is what Richard Scudamore is brilliant at and if we can't have Bernie we need someone like Scudamore.
