The 407 SW joins Peugeot's range of stationwagons which include the 206 SW and 307 SW.
It has the same sleek and slender lines of the 407 sedan and Peugeot claims that the 407 SW "will go even further in setting new standards as far as styling on wagons is concerned".
Design features include the same individualized large air intake and headlamps, and large inclined windscreen of the sedan.
In SW guise, the fluidity of the overall shape is also highlighted by attention to detail such as the line of the rear quarter panel, as it flows naturally into the rear wheel arch.
The waist line, which follows the line of the door handles, starts at the headlights and then passes through the rear lights before continuing horizontally onto the tailgate, where it highlights the marque's lion badge.
The car shares the same structure and platform as the sedan and Peugeot claims that the body has high rigidity that ensures optimum performance of the suspension and enhances road holding and active safety.
The SW's overall is 4.763m, but its wheelbase and front overhang remains the same as the sedan.
As with the 307 SW the 407 SW is also available with a panoramic glass roof with a surface area of nearly 1.6m² that extends from the equally large windscreen to the rear of the car.
Laminated and tinted glass, with a thickness of 6mm, is used in the manufacturing of the panoramic glass roof that transmits 20% light while limiting energy filtration to 12%.

All three SW models feature four large discs, with the front two ventilated and anti-lock braking systems with electronic brake distribution for each wheel.
Like the sedan, the SW is also equipped with emergency braking assistance, and the latest generation Electronic Stability Programme, combining all the technology of ABS, traction control, stability control, and the emergency braking assistance.
All models have automatic climate control with moisture sensors, automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers with rain sensors, electric foldaway rearview mirrors, a state-of-the-art sound system, an on-board computer, tyre pressure sensors with warning on the instrument panel, and follow-me-home lights.
The 2.2 SW gets Sport treatment with electrically operated front seats, rear parking sensors, and interior with leather and alcantara trim, while the 3.0 ST Sport is fitted with full leather, heated front seats, and aluminium trimmings.
