BLOEMFONTEIN - A new, bright-red fire truck belonging to Parys in the Free State has disappeared.
Volksblad reported that municipal officials reportedl the converted Toyota Land Cruiser missing on Tuesday night.
"There is no sign of a break-in or of tampering with the building's's locks," a Free State police spokesman told the newspaper.
KEYS IN IGNITION
Police are investigating a vehicle theft - hardly helped by the fact that the keys were usually left in the Cruiser.
Volksblad reported that the vehicle was given to the municipality by the Fezile Dabi district municipality in 2012 year when it was handed over with much fanfare and local media coverage.
The newspaper could not obtain comment from the municipality.
