Ogier celebrates first rally win

PARIS, France - Sebastien Ogier of France celebrated his maiden World Rally title by winning his home rally but nine-times champion Sebastien Loeb's final season ended on a sour note on Sunday.

Polo driver Ogier won the event in the Alsace region by 12.2sec from Spain's Dani Sordo (Citroen) and Finn Jari-Matti Latvala took third, 7.3sec further behind.

RECORD NINE TITLES

Ogier won the World title on Thursday after his only rival, Belgian Thierry Neuville, failed to win the power stage at the Rally of France. Then, on the final day of the rally, Loeb's Citroen slid off the road on Stage 1 and ended up on its roof in a ditch.

Loeb, who won a record nine World titles from 2004-12, and co-driver Daniel Elena were not hurt.

Loeb took part in four rallies through 2013 after saying he would not defend his title in 2013. He won the Monte Carlo Rally and Rally Argentina while taking second place in Rally Sweden.
