Watch this GT-R overtake 16 cars on the first lap!

Nismo GT-R racer, Alex Buncombe, had a fantastic opening lap during the first round of the Blancpain Endurance series at the Monza race circuit in Italy.

After suffering mechanical problems in qualifying he was forced to start the race from 32nd place out of 44 cars. Amazingly, by the end of the second lap he was placed 13th.

With no crashes to gift him free positions, Buncombe passed ten cars by the first corner, finding a tunnel gap down the centre of the track.

At one point on the way down to the first corner you'll see he pushes his GT-R through a narrow gap. With a squirt of power from his V8-equipped race and a minor course correction, he makes it through with no vital damage.

The Blancpain Endurance series features GT3-specced racing cars from several manufacturers including Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Nissan.

The series runs throughout Europe and regularly sees grids of over 60 cars with the halo event of the season being the Spa 24hours.

Here's a sneak peek of Buncombe's awesome passes:

THREE-HOUR ENDURANCE RACE

The Nismo GT-R's strength is it's torque (especially during cornering) and its brakes. The downside is its uses its tyres more and is thirstier than its competitors.

Buncombe uses new tyres to take full advantage on the first two laps to make it all the way up to 13th position by the end of the second lap, putting the team in a good position to settle in for the rest of the three-hour race.

Buncombe and his fellow Nismo team mates finished 5th in class and 13th overall.
