Next Top Gear stunt - a 720 Plus

BIRMINGHAM, England - Earlier in 2012 fans of Top Gear's motoring festival in Durban witnessed a record setting stunt - the first to loop-the-loop in a car with the "Deadly 720’ stunt.

In October 2012 Jeremy Clarkson (though we doubt he'll be driving) and his stunt crew will attempt a similar death-defying stunt for the Top Gear Live Show in Birmingham, UK.

Top Gear wants another entry in the Guinness Book of Records by completing the first double loop-the-loop on a motorbike called the Deadly 720 Plus

The stunt will be attempted with the eight-metre steel loops used in Durban. The bike, a standard KTM 250 SX-F, will need to reach  45km/h and its shock-absorbers will be recalibrated to avoid tumbling out of the loops or the possibility of the rider blacking out.

Although the stunt is even more demanding on two than four wheels, Top Gear Live creative director Rowland French is confident the team will succeed:

"We were all very pleased with our collective bravery when we set a world record by sending a car through a double loop but it got us thinking: could we perform the same feat if we removed 50% of the wheels as well as the roof and the steering wheel?

"In other words on a motorbike.”
