Our spies caught the new look Golf out testing in northern Sweden.
VW will probably launch the facelifted Golf at the Paris Motor Show in September, which means that it could only arrive in South Africa early in 2007.
As shown on our photos the styling changes are reserved for the Golf's front design where the car will get a new chrome grille, similar to that of the new R32 version.
The rear end seems to be left untouched but we expect the interior to be freshened up too.
A hot diesel model, the GTD, is also due to join the range and it will feature the same prominent honeycomb grille of the GTI. Power will come from VW's 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI, though output will be increased to about 125 kW.
