VIENNA, Austria - It took a 250km drive from Budapest to Vienna before an Austrian mother realised she'd left her 11-year-old daughter behind.
The woman was on her way home from holiday early on August 31 2012 when she stopped at a service station near Budapest, the Hungarian capital.
CHARGES POSSIBLE
Her daughter went to the toilet while she waited in the car and when she heard a car door being closed she believed the girl was back in the rear seat.
Only when she arrived in Vienna, some 250km away, did she realise the girl was missing and by the time she had contacted the police the girl had been found and the authorities notified.
Mother and daughter were reunited near Budapest later in the day but charges of child neglect are being investigated.
