LONDON, England - More people look for a new car online at 8pm on a Monday evening than any other time during the week.

According to data from Motorpoint in England the break between the two episodes of 'Coronation Street' (a time-honoured working-class soapie) is prime-time for people to search for their next vehicle.

In 2014, Motorpoint received more than 8.43-million unique visitors to its website, up 17% year-on-year, as digital searches for replacement vehicle continues to grow. This included almost 350 people looking for cars at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Motorpoint now accounts for almost a quarter of visits to "car supermarkets" in the UK.

GM of Motorpoint Online, Jon Baird, said: "Gone are the days when we visited multiple car dealers to search for our next car. Today people go online - as the increased numbers of visitors to our website testifies.”

Motorpoint, launched in 2000, has played a major role in transforming the way in which the British motoring public buys cars with instant access 24/7 to 4000 new and low-kilometre vehicles. As a result, one in three cars in the UK is now ordered online at Motorpoint.
