Little Roux’s big tractor ride

Drivers have been slow to switch to electric vehicles... unless, of course, you’re under five-years old, it seems.

Wheels24 reader TERINA LE ROUX sent us images of her nephew, Roux le Roux, helping with chores behind the wheel of his battery-powered John Deere tractor at his family's farm in northern Scotland.

TOP SPEED OF 7KM/H

Roux might be under age for the road but he's happy hauling firewood, zooting around on his trailer-equipped miniature tractor. You could say he's a lumberjack, and that's all right.

According to Le Roux: “This is my nephew, Roux, helping his dad, Inus, move firewood. Roux will turn four in September 2014. They live in Ardgay Sutherland, Scotland."

The John Deere EV is one metre long, 63cm wide and 50cm tall and weighs 22kg. It’s equipped with a trailer, armrests and an FM radio. It’s powered by a 12V battery mated to a two-speed gearbox (and reverse). The battery enables a top speed of seven km/h.
