Injured Alonso to miss US GP?

MARANELLO, Italy - Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said "it's not even remotely possible"  as he contemplates Fernando Alonso missing the race 2013 US F1 GP.

After his shunt at the 2013 Abu Dhabi GP earlier in November 2013  Alonso admitted he had back pain. His manager Luis Garcia Abad tweeted an alarming photo of the driver strapped to a spinal board during a post-race hospital check.

DRAMATIC PHOTO?

Allievi said Ferrari "did not like" Abad's dramatic photo, adding another small piece to Alonso's growing rift with Ferrari.

Alonso had medical tests in Spain in November 2013 and according to Allievi was "waiting until the beginning of this week" to be sure he would leave for America as scheduled on November 11. Even if Alonso does travel to Austin, he would need to pass the FIA's medical checks.

Allievi said that in the "unlikely" event that Alonso sat out Austin, his replacement would probably be Marussia driver Jules Bianchi.

Allievi said Marussia "is bound to release (Bianchi) when the call comes from Maranello". Ferrari's second choice is reportedly the veteran reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa.
