Twitter 'Tug of War' winner pulls Datsun GO all the way to Krugersdorp

During December, Datsun challenged South Africans to pull the newly launched GO all the way to their house and into their garage.

Of course, not literally! Through using social media savvy skills, contestants stood a chance to win a stunning new Datsun GO by tweeting #GO with specific details about their city and suburb.

The fastest fingers

Krugersdorp North resident, Vanessa Posthumus, showed that her Twitter skills are up to scratch by in fact pulling the vehicle straight into her very own driveway.

"I joined the competition when it hit the city stage last week and have been tweeting ever since – I can’t even remember the number of times I had to tweet to pull the car closer to me," said Posthumus.

"There were a couple of cars who had started following the Twitter Tug of War convoy however, I arrived from the opposite direction, jumped out of my little green car, and started searching for the phrase of the competition that paid.

"This was such a fun and different social media challenge and we at Datsun are so pleased with the outcome. The fact that Vanessa was able to convince her neighbours, friends, family and colleagues to participate in this tweet-race to the finish line is quite impressive," said Veralda Schmidt, PR Manager at Datsun.

"This competition truly reflects the quirky style and fun that you can have with the new Datsun GO," Schmidt added.

Krugersdorp received 35 005 tweets in the city stage and the competition trended four times with #GOGauteng trending once and #DriveLifeToTheFull trending three times.

The new Datsun GO and GO+ are stylish, have a low cost of ownership and a high level of features. Standard specification includes coloured electric side mirrors, Apple & Android Auto CarPlay, reverse parking sensors, intermittent wipers, central locking, an immobiliser, ABS, driver and passenger airbags and retractable seatbelts.

Pricing starts from R144 500, comes with a standard 3-year/100 000km warranty and an optional service plan.
