Dubai - Porsche reports its best sixth month sales figures in 2017 so far. With 126 497 vehicles sold worldwide, the automaker exceeded its record figure set in 2016 by 7% in the first half of 2017.
Macan, Panamera lead the way
The Macan remains the main driver of the automaker's growth with the highest-volume model line. However, the new Panamera, launched in SA earlier in 2017, has achieved the strongest percentage increase in the first six months of the year, with sales of the four-door sports car seeing a rise of 54%.
China has established itself as the largest single market, with a significant increase of 18% to 35 864 vehicles.
Alongside the Panamera, the Macan recorded a double-digit growth in the first half of 2017: Deliveries of the sporty SUV increased by 11%, reaching the 50 000 mark. Demand for the 718 Cayman and Boxster models and the Cayenne also grew. The Cayenne was the second most popular Porsche model line with 35 601 vehicles sold.
The US ranked behind the Chinese market with 27 568 deliveries. In Germany, the sports car manufacturer remained at the record level achieved in the previous year. With 15 474 units, vehicle deliveries to customers increased by 1%.
