German luxury automaker BMW posted a steep drop in quarterly profit, blaming the impact of tough new EU emissions tests and "international trade conflicts".

The Munich-based group said net profit between July and September slumped 24% year-on-year to €1.4 billion ($1.6 billion), falling short of analyst expectations.
Revenues were up 4.7% to 24.7 billion.
