As it happened: State of the Motor Industry 2019 - new models, transformation and more for SA

Toyota has held its annual State of the Motor Industry summit in Johannesburg. The automaker has revealed some interesting cars for the year ahead.

Company CEO Andrew Kirby shared his insights about the local market, as well as the automaker's growth over the past year. Key areas that the automaker will focus on for 2019 including transformation (i.e "black-owned dealers) and increasing local production. Other guests include Calvyn Hamman, ToyotaSA senior VP, who shared specifics on the automaker's line-up including the new Supra destined for local shores.

Toyota also revealed its exciting new models headed for South Africa, as well as facts such as 50% of the cars its sells in Africa are built locally.

ToyotaSA CEO Andrew Kirby says that Localisation, transformation, improved tech - all part of the South African Automotive Masterplan (SAAM).
